Perhaps it might be prudent to mention that practitioners of Macumba, Vodoun, Santeria, Candomble and Umbanda, do NOT self-define as Witches and do not call their practices Witchcraft.

The term 'Witchcraft' was applied to all African religio-magical practices by colonizing European missionaries. It was never a term of self-definition for Africans.

Today the term Witchcraft has been reclaimed as a bone-fide religion - one inspired by religio-magical practices and belief systems that originate from Europe - including England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
